The Experience

All you need is two or more people.

Then reach out via text or email and give me a day or two as options. Most times start at 6pm at night and 10 am on weekend days, but we are flexible (5:30 or 6:45 etc..) we will take it from there.

To us, a class is two or more people. We are VERY FLEXIBLE. With the heat, we typically stick to week days with a start time of either 5 PM, 5:20 PM, 6pm or 6:30 PM and on the weekends we offer Saturday and Sunday classes too at various times. This is where we are the most flexible.

The classes take about an hour and a half to two hours. Some people even stay three. But that's their desire to!

The classes are held at our home studio. We have a garage we park our cars in, and a separate, detached garage we have as our pottery shop. I'm not going to lie, it's a garage. It's not cutsie. But it gets the job done and everyone has stated how much they love it when they are visiting. You will too!

We are local to Canton, Madison, Ridgeland, Jackson, Brandon, Clinton and Flora.

More specifically, we are in Canton on the Madison line off of Highway 51 between Madison and Gluckstadt.

Hand building only classes run $35 per person.

If you make larger pieces such as platters and charcuterie boards, the price will increase to accommodate thicker, larger clay pieces and more glaze to $45 or perhaps $55 based on the piece.

Wheel class is $40 per person. Minimum 2 pieces will be made. Max of 3 balls of clay.

Combo class is $65 per person. Make one piece in each method of clay making.

Specialty classes vary. For example the three tree class is $85 per person. Bunny vases and angel classes are $40 per person. Make and Paint Chickens and Gnomes are $40 and Make and Paint Nativity holy family sets are $45. Pricing is subject to change.

To book a class we need a minimum of 2 people.

The max that is comfortably met for wheel is 10 people (we have five wheels/rotate).

Max for Combo class is 12 people.

Max for Hand Building can be up to 18 people.

We prefer children over 10 from the standpoint of being able to do the actual work on the wheel and table design.

Parents must accompany anyone under 14.

We welcome men, women, seniors, adults and kids 10 and over.

We have bottled water on hand for the students. Feel free to bring your own snack, adult beverage, sodas.

We have all the materials you will need including clay, wheel, texture tools, cutting tools, assembling tools, the kiln to fire, the glazes and aprons.

You may get dirty, but everything washes out easily with water. No stains.

We do have heated and cooled space to take the class in the garage studio, however, MS can get extremely hot during the summer so our little air conditioner does the best that it can. Hopefully, we have it comfortable for your group though.

WHIM is able to accept, check, debit/credit cards or Venmo. Cash is always king but we do not carry much change so please try to have exact change if paying by cash.

We do not accept tips.

Payment for class can be made prior to class time, but is expected upon completion of the class that day.

Pottery takes a minimum of 7-10 business days in the summer to dry. Doesn't matter the size of the piece, it has to be fully dried before it can be fired bisque fire in the kiln. Once it is finished, we will glaze your two pieces for you. TYPICALLY, we can get an idea from you in the class which option of the glazes you want on your piece, but ultimately we will glaze it and refire it. When it's done, we will reach out to you to coordinate porch pick up or delivery if nearby.

There is a 7 -14 day drying process before a 24-hour bisque fire.

Once bisqued, your pieces can be glazed, and they dry 24 hours.

Once they are done drying, they are "final fired" which takes 24 hours.

So ultimately, 3 weeks after your class, your pieces will be finished. But, on most occasions we have them in two weeks.

Bill will teach the wheel portion every time.

He may teach the hand building and the wheel portion if 4 or under on the class size.

If more than 4 people, Megan will teach the hand buliding while Bill teaches the wheel portion and then we swap places and continue to teach the other method in one class.

Yes! There are so many things you can do!!!

From a hand building standpoint alone, we typically start easy with a mug, birdhouse or a vase. Then you can come back and work on something more complex like a butter dish, pitcher, wind chime, bird feeder, casserole dish or cake plate. There are always seasoned or themed pieces like plates and platters that can be gifted or utilized for family functions. Wedding gifts, sorority gifts, birthday gifts, or holiday happies! Football themed, sorority life, spooky or filled with Christmas magic, each piece is what you make it!

Whereas we do not like the pressure of providing a celebration experience themed as a birthday party, bachelorette party, graduation party, or retirement party, you are certainly welcome to bring snacks and treats and create the occasion on your own!

Meaning, feel free to book a Christmas Pj party where moms and kids come dressed in PJ's and bring snacks like popcorn and milk duds and chocolate milk and make some Christmas cozy themed ornaments while listening to a Christmas channel on pandora synced up to the jam box. (Just an idea).

You get the picture. You can make your visit how you want with what you bring, dress up as, etc.... but we do not have plates for cake or themed napkins or anything like that.

You are welcome to bring a cookie cake, boxed lunches, pizza, a rolling cooler of beverages of your choice. Make the time and space your own!

We just don't carry utensils or plates/napkins.
